Kitten thinks of nothing but murder all day.

TCat's visit to Red Deer was a fascinating and memorable weekend.
Terry's got a great thing going there at his Vat, and Stick regaled us with stories of everything from playing with '80s arena acts to which wall used to be where at the club.  To top it all off, Monty did the best job of any soundman we've had since Libby at the Outlaw in Slave Lake.  And the place was packed full of musicians of gracious applause and humble professionalism.  One of them's on Ellen DeGeneres this fall, and we can't remember his name but we wish him best of luck.
Saturday we were awoken waaay too early by roofers hammering shingles onto the band house so we made the best of it.  Just as we were deciding who should risk waking up Simon so we could take off with the golf clubs who should appear but our buddy Scotty out and about for an afternoon road trip from Edmontown.  He bravely jumped on Sim's bed and off we went for breakfast at Pete's at the Beach in Sylvan Lake, our favourite hangout in that town for years... and who should we meet but an ex-Vat inmate named Rod, whom we've known for years as a Pete's employee with great stories but were never aware of his connection to that hallowed hall.  We ended up staying there for breakfast... and lunch... and left just before dinner.  We didn't capture any of the swimsuits on the beach (too busy looking) or hot cars from Westerner Days, but here are a few segments of the show.

It's life with TCat, 1/250ths of a second at a time.

Welcome to Fantasy Island!

"Ok, folks, it's a wrap!" etc., insert groaner mummy joke here...

And you thought the mummy had lost his head.

Coffee... just... arrived...

Pete's to ourselves...

...just us with ex-Vatman Rod and our bud Scotty...

... who, with Sim, points out that 'bone' in this case is not a verb.

Shag asks the hard questions. "What if every question was rhetorical?" etc.

Speaking of whom, here's the maestro's maelstrom getting underway...

in the 'Won't Get Fooled Again' solo.

You have to see this to believe it. Shaggy's solos are going to knock 'em dead in stadiums one day.

In the meantime, the Vat - which has hosted the Payolas, among other huge names - benefits from the time spent at the practice pad.

Bird's eye view.

... thanks for the memories.
